Came home today to be confronted with the most vile overpowering gag inducing smell coming from the puddle which Amaryllis had just produced.

The nurse in me of course considered dehydration, but I don't think so as this is a one off with regards to smell and volume of urine was large, as normal. Either way he shall be constantly in the bath for the next week to be on the safe side!

Otherwise there is nothing wrong with him at all, active, eating as usual etc.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Normal consistency I think, was hard to be sure as it was soaked in to soil.

yes the stickiness is very obvious and to be honest i have only observed it in gravid females before.the other thing which can produce strong smellig urine is a little more serious.i havent experienced this myself but understand these can be the symptoms for Hexamita parva.the other symptoms are excessive drinking anorexia and loss of weight.the urine is described as strong smelling,sometimes tinged with green and in severe cases flecked with blood.i must add sometimes the condition of tortoises urine can be influenced by their diet so if he has been grazing there is a chance he has ingested a noxious plant or has even been eating a large percentage of something in particular thats had this effect.personally i would do as you have suggested and increase hydration then keep a close watch how his condition progresses.any real concerns then i would take a trip to the vets for an experts opinion.

Well Amaryllis is definitely not suffering from anorexia! Or any thing else tbh, just business as usual round here.

Still having the odd v smelly wee, but otherwise still active, eating lots, running all over the place and pulling the slightly bored with these "idiot humans that I have" face! Totally business as usual just a bit smelly, say once a week?

He has also taken to urinating not only in his bed but is often walking over to his food and water spot to wee too!
