Hi, if you have a turtle tank, please can you post some pictures of your set up!

Also can you tell me what filters you use & how often you clean out the filters.

Also, how often do you change the water? Partial? Full?

Thank you so much in anticipation xxxxxxxxx

I don't have any tanks. :)

My setups have Eheim 2213 or 2217 depending on water volume and number of inhabitants. I clean them out every 2-3 months." depending on how well they're flowing. Remember to clean the filter pads in tank water not tap water as the chlorine in tap water kills the good bacteria in the filter.

Water changes, 50% every two weeks.

Thanks Dave, I had the eheim 2234 but it was playing up last week so I went and bought a aqua manta 200 external filter (the aquarium shop was using them on all the their tanks and the guy who had been there over 20years recommended that over the fluvial as it had better warantee, and overall less problems reported & better feedback than the fluvial) Its set up now and apart from the usual problem with an external filter - high walled tank, small amount of water = bloody hard work getting pipes primed as not a lot of pressure - its working just fine!

With the eheim, I found the water flow reduced after about a week, so I more or less cleaned it out weekly! Was that too much then?

I was also doing 50 - 75% water changes every week or two - I guess thats too much as well!!!

My main problem, is the tank I have has a lid with a letterbox type opening. The lid has fittings for 2x uv tubes. I am having problems trying to fix up a heat lamp and was wondering what everyone else does? If I take the lid of, how am I gonna fix the uv tubes?? I have toyed with the idea of getting a new tank but not sure what one to get?

I use these.

Fairly basic fixing but you may be able to bolt one into the lid if it's strong enough.

Oh, and it doesn't come with a bulb so you'd need these too!

Hang on hang on. The other problem with a lid is trapped heat, no airflow and humidity. Believe it or not most aquatic turtles don't like humid air, it can lead to rsspiratory problems.

Option two (about the same price as my option one) scrap the lid get an MVb lamp like a 100w arcadia and a clamp lamp and you can attach it to the side of the tank. It'll light the whole tank I reckon.

If I take of the lid, is there a way to rig up the tubes as I've just bought brand new uv tubes & reflectors!!! (Last week!) :(

Seems to be my luck! I spent over £50 on eheim filter the week before last and thats now no good! :(
