As we have limited space in our living room for the babies table, we have decided to make a second story to a slightly larger table, so that they have more room to move about. However this means they will have to have ramps up to the top floor. So I need to put something on the ramp to stop the babies slipping up or down it. I have had a thought that i could cover it with sand paper. My only concern is that the sandpaper may scratch their plastrons. So i am not sure if it will be suitable.

I Would like other peoples advice and opinions on the use of sand paper. And if it isn't suitable, could anybody suggest anything else that I could use please? I can't have anything with too big a ridge in it, as Legs 11 is so small I don't think his little legs would be able to stretch over the ridges.

I await your opinions and expertise.

Many thanks

Gail

Hi Gail

Cola has a ramp leading up to a top floor and I bought a anti-slip bath mat and cut it to size then glued this down.. It is perfect and she uses it all the time and can get a really good grip.

Hope this helps

The rubber mat is a good idea, very resourceful :)

On my ramp I use a piece of reptile carpet which also works well.

.....or you could use the really fine sandpaper, or the anti slip tape (kleeneze), anti slip stuff you put on trays to stop plates slipping, cover with glue then sprinkle sand on it....make sure glue has well and truely dried before letting torts loose!!!, erm, errrrrrrr :?

Hi Gail,
I would say sandpaper is fine, they are sure to travel over things much rougher than that in the wild. ;) x
Although, the bath mat idea would be fantastically easy to keep clean. :P
