I have a 100w Powersun UV bulb, it says on the internet my bulb will lasts a year and then should be replaced but i have heard that bulbs need to be changed every 6 months, does anyone have any advise? I don't know if to replace it now as i have had it for about 6 months.

Also my Hermann's tortoise has had his left eye closed for a while now, i was told to get a eye and skin ointment for him, i noticed his eye opened after using that for about a week but that there is something covering his eye, does anybody know what this is and what i can do about it. I have just checked on him and his other eye seems to be watering.

Its UV tubes that have to be changed every six months. not bulbs:0)
As for the eyes, sometimes just dropping a drop of codliver oil/artificial eye drops will clear any minor problems. it might be the inner eye lid has got stuck over, if this is it, you need a tort vet.
Anything lasting needs to be seen by a tortoise vet.

Ok, thanks Sandy:). I'll try the cod liver oil and if that doesn't work i'll have to take him to the vets, thanks for your help.
