Could anyone suggest were to look for pics on natural habitat for horsfields. All the ones I've seen are for Hermans. I know that Horsfields are grouped in with the Med torts but I feel they are a little different. I desperately need to redo my outdoor enclosures but I want to do them right first time round so I'm not having to go back to them again and again.
Thanks in advance, Winnie

Hi Winnie

Jayne, one of the members on here has horsefields. I am sure she will be along shortly to give you information on her enclosure. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hello
I have three horsefields and i house them outside 24/7,i have a russian horsefield book by E.j. Pirog which is a brilliant book ,i bought mine of ebay and if i remember right it was only around £6.00,when making an outside enclosure for horsefields make sure it is totally secure as they are right escape artists in every way which i found out at the beginning with my male H.There house is made of breeze block with a wooden open top roof to make easy acccess to the tubular heater and lights and there front door is made of wood and has air vents which can be opened or
closed, inside i use topsoil for there substrate and slate, the house door folds in half so they can have access all day to there outside enclosure.Pictures of there enclosure are in the outdoor section,if you cannot find i can always email some through to you.
Jayne

I have just been and looked again at Winnies enclosure, it is fantastic, so come on Winnie, if it is not on here yet, please put it on and show the others, or put a link up. If you don't know how to do the link, if you give me your permission I will add it for you. :D

Hi Ruth,
Yes I'm the one with the flying torts enclosure. Soz I can't put pics on here but my internet keeps cutting me off every time I try and load photos on any forum so I give up but if you want to do the link thingy then that's fine by me, go for it. I don't think my enclosure is natural enough and although I was all for the weeds growing in aid of natural grazing I'm sick of the sight of dock leaves, grass and stingy nettles, I'm wanting something that's a bit more sparse, like some of the hermann habitats that have been shown.

Winnie
