Hi Guys, this has to be one of the worst mornings. I have just been to put on Michelles lamp and she has died in the night. I do not know what to do with myself. She has been doing so well since she was poorly in May. I have been bathing her everyday, she has been eating fine, active, even climbing and gaining steady weight. When I take her to her bath I still 'tilt' her and check her breathing like I was doing when she had RNS. I do not understand it. When I found her I immediately placed her in warm water to see if there was any life at all in her, but there wasnt. She was cold when i picked her up and even the little bit responsive. So now I am beating myself up about why. There was a little bit of fluid round her mouth, could she have vomited and if so what could have caused that. She has been nowhere but her pen. What about Peta? A close eye on her now I guess. I feel really this is all my fault, but dont know what I have done wrong. Sad hugs xxxx

You probabley have not done anything wrong. RNS might just have been a symptom of something else underlying inside the body. I am so sorry this has happened to you, its devestating. But your vet would have said if you were doing things wrong.
Without a post mortem you will never really know.

Stellanne that is really sad news. :( As already said, It doesn't look as if you were doing anything wrong. She was gaining weight etc.

Big hugs being sent your way.

Gail

Oh Stellanne, poor you and poor Michelle.. My heart goes out to you, you must be feeling so upset..but nobody cared more than you and you did your best at nursing her back to health so please don't feel that you are to blame.

Thinking of you and sending a huge reassuring hug xxxx

I came home from school early to bury her:-(( and I think it was RNS again cos when I was giving her a final love her nose ran a little with clear fluid:-(( but it was very sudden, she showed no sign at all last night. Thank you for your messages, your support is very comforting :-(( sad hugs x x x

hi Stellanne,im so sorry to hear of your loss.im sure you did everything possible to help her.as you say just keep a close eye on the other one in case of problems.the trouble is it can be so difficult to spot any signs of illness early enough ,by the time it becomes obvious they are ill their illness is in an advanced state and it can be a very long road to recovery.
