Hi Everyone,
In need of a bit of advice on Ben 10.
May sound silly but ...is he actually awake or not!!!
He is boxed up in the insulated shed (as is Zoom).
I checked on them 2 weeks ago - Zoom fast asleep, Ben 10 at the top of his box, head and legs fully out of shell, eyes open. Weighed them both - NO weight loss at all (been down 4+ weeks).
Decided as no weight loss, I would bed Ben 10 down again and leave him.
Today I went to re-check - again Ben 10 at the top of his box, in the 'I'm going to clmb out' stance - legs and head out of shell, eyes open.
Re-weighed - still no weight loss - but he really seems like he is awake - infact I'm sure he has never actually fully settled into hibernation.

Advice greatly appreciated.

really hard to say without actually seeing him? Torts do 'wake' during hibernation, they have been known to have their eyes open. Sometimes they do it just because you've disturbed them, only a couple of mine tuck themselves in totally, the rest keep their heads/legs out. Has he moved at all? Have you picked him up? Does he draw himself in when you do?

BUT if goes without saying, you've got to do what YOU think is right - go with your gut instinct. If you're not sure get him up. Sorry I can't be of more help

Definately moved, as I had covered him up last time I checked him.
He keeps his head and legs out and eyes open when I take him out to weigh him.
the shed has not dropped below 8 degrees since I put them in there - Ben 10 has always been the difficult one!!!
Sounds silly - but he seems happy - not scratching to get out when I put him back, and as he hasn't lost weight, or done a wee, no noisy breathing I will leave him and check him weekly.

I know temps are high, but guess it just goes with the territory when you don't use a fridge!

Mine are outdoors and the temps aren't playing the game here either so you're not a lone on that one!!!!!
