Hi, Eb my 11 year old Mermann's got cuttle fish bone stuck sidewards in her mouth last week, managed to get a big chunk of it out then the next day off to the vet, where she was sedated and some more dirt was removed, she now has to have injections every 3 days (what a pain that it) but if it make her better all well and good, still not nice trying to injected her in the neck. She is now not eating at all I know she is hungry as she runs over to the food smells it and then turns away, I am bathing her every day to keep uo the hydration is there anything else I can do to help her, she is still not 100% and I am frightened that I am going to lose her. :| Sorry for the ramble but any advice or help would be good. Thanks

keeping her hydrated is probably all you can do yourself Kay.if she is going into the vets for injections have the vet check her mouth again because she may be having probelms eating.hermanns tend to be good eaters so im a little suspicious even more so because she seems keen to investigate her food.

Hi Kay. Sorry to hear your tort isn't well.

Could it be that her mouth is still sore and she is unable to bite and chew her food? Do you think boiling and mashing it for a few days may help??

If its baytril thats being injected, it can put them off their food. But keeping her warm while the abs are to work is important. Also keeping her hydrated.
She can go a while without food:0)

Thanks all, still no improvement. Wish me luck tomorrow as I have to injected her, I hate doing it. Found her upside down earlier!!!! Still not eating, bathed her and washed around her mouth with cotton bud then tried to get her to take some food but she just walked away. One side of her face look different, flat in some strange way I cant explain. Will keep you updated. Thanks for the advice and support.
