I recently found out that a lady who works for the same company as me also has tortoises. They have been in the family for about 40 years, but she has only had them a little over 12 months. A couple of weeks ago I went to see them. They are gorgeous. I took a couple of photos and she has just sent me some more.

She is well aware that Bunty and Mandy are females and that Flash is male, but could you identify species/sub species please?

must confess if you look at the front vertebral scute it does look like graeca graeca but the join between the abdominal and femoral appears straight .it could be the angle and my eyes so i wont argue.what do you use to id then Chris.

My first impression was graeca the sharp face , the front vertebral scute , over all look and shape of the animal's carapace plus the line between the abdominal and femoral scute has a sharp curve down at the end's , in an ibera these line's seem to have a slight curve down but not a sharp one as in this case.

agree on the other points but it was the line between the abdominal and femoral scute that made me think ibera .it looks staright to me so i thought probably not graecagraeca .although not having seem as many ibera in the flesh as you i will accept the line is not straight enough.thanks for looking Chris .
