As most of you know Tiny my smallest Hermanns has always been a worry and continually digs down in the soil when he is outside. So in desperation I have tried to limit the amount of soil outside that he can dig into.




I have put roofing felt underneath the logs and filled in with topsoil.


At the back of the coldframe I have put roofing felt and covered it with bags of slate.


This middle section is made up of large stones and soil with a few plants.

If he wants to dig down now he has to either go under the terracotta pot or back in his shed.

I just hope it works and Tiny stays above the ground long enough to get some sun on his shell. But I bet it won't be long before he decides to stay in his shed.

I love your enclosure! In fact if he doesn't want to use it I'll move in! I love the logged part! looks really effective

LOL Dawn. I rack my brains, come up with a plan, relay it to you, so I don't forget it. You tweak it a bit, I do all the ground work, and you sit at home miles away, with a glass in your hand, reminding me of said plan, because I have no memory.

I just couldn't do it without you.
