I can give the weeds in the fridge plan a big thumbs up from experience!

Ive left Ammy at my mums for a week twice this yr already (please dont think Im a gad about reckless tortoise mum - it was special circumstances! Week one was when we got married and should have been flying off for our honey moon but the volcanic ash cloud stopped play and we went camping for a week, the second was our delayed real honeymoon!). I put the weeds in a sandwich box and they lasted the week no problem.

However despite giving mum strict instructions apparently she had great fun flicking fresh peas across the conservatory floor while Ammy loved chasing them and eating them - oh well one or two wont hurt! x

edit - oh and infact as Im too lazy to go weed hunting on a daily basis there is often a plastic box full in the fridge!
