All of the plants and weeds pictured in the January heading are readily available here in Cornwall, I see no point in repeating the same pictures, but instead I am choosing to add as the months go by. During february, one of my torts favourite plants has begun to emerge; Sedum Spectabile, commonly known as the Ice Plant.

The beauty of these is that they have got to be the easiest plant in the world to grow and to multiply from cuttings as a bit of stalk or even leaf, sprouts, shoots and develops whether stuck in any old bit of ground or popped in water. This Sedum provides an enjoyable addition to the torty menu for many months. ( Check your sedum variety before feeding as there are many forms of sedum. As far as I am aware all but sedum acre (poisonous) are acceptable as part of a varied diet.

Here is another plant that is currently thriving in my tortoise enclosure. I am almost certain that it is called Crane's Bill Geranium. It has pretty much been around through the worst of the weather and has continued to flourish. The whole of this plant is safe for the tortoise diet, however mine aren't too keen on the plant as a meal, but do love it as a shady retreat and one of my Leos in particular spends a lot of time nestled under the leaves.

I have a few clumps of these growing, as with the sedum, I am all for things that grow with ease, in the worst of soils and need zero attention!

The problem I find this time of year when weeding hunting is that there are so many low growing green weeds around, all looking very similar

Yes Janet, I agree there are, and I don't know all of the foods that are suitable :? . That is the reason that I tried very hard to take as clearer photos as possible, this way it doesn't matter if you do not know the plant by name, but if you know that others are using them as part of a mixed diet it should make people more confident when on weed searches :) . I hope that the photos are of help to others and equally I look forward to seeing other peoples pictures of plants that I may be unsure about. ( They never look the same in real life as they do in the books  ).

Thats why sections like this are a good idea and one reason why I find the TTT site useful. Good clear photos, just like yours :)
